What Are the Duties of a Wedding Planner?

A wedding planner is a professional who helps the bride and groom in preparing for their big day. Since there are so many things to do for the wedding and since most brides and grooms do not have the luxury of time because of work and other responsibilities, many couples employ the services of a wedding planner.
Wedding planners coordinate all the people that are involved in the wedding. They coordinate with the caterers, florists, wedding gown makers, photographers, printers of invitations, renters of venues and even the weddings guests.
Since the bride and the groom don’t have time to meet up with numerous caterers, numerous photographers and they don’t have the time to visit different venues, a wedding planner help the couple save time in choosing them.
If the wedding is a stage play, the wedding planner is the director. Many brides and grooms don’t want to be stressed especially during their wedding day. They don’t want to worry about the limousine that is not yet in the house 30 minutes before the wedding. They don’t want to worry about the flower bouquet not yet delivered. A wedding planner makes sure that everything will be alright during the wedding day.
We can say that the main duty of a wedding planner is to make sure that the groom and bride enjoy their special day. The wedding planners are there in all the aspects of the wedding. The couples tell them what they want—their idea for the their wedding, their budget—and it is the duty of the wedding planner to give the couples the wedding that they dream of.
Wedding planners are also good with fashion and style. Many brides who do not know anything about colors and fashions hire wedding planners to assist them in their selections of such things as the decorations for the venues, the bridal gowns and the gowns of the bridesmaids, the accessories that go well with the gowns, the songs to be played at different parts of the wedding.
They are also the problem solvers of the groom, bride and all the other sponsors in the wedding. When the bridal gown or the gowns of any of the bridesmaids are torn, the wedding planner should be ready for the rescue. When the flowers used are not the flowers that the couples and the florists agreed upon, it is the duty of the wedding planner to coordinate with the florist and see what can be done about it.
Whenever somebody asks, “What are the duties of a wedding planner?” I always say that the duties are to make the wedding beautiful, to coordinate different vendors and to ensure that the bride, the groom and everyone in the wedding will enjoy themselves during the special celebration.
