When you have completed the list of guests that you want to invite for you wedding, the next step is to prepare a wedding invitation to be sent out to them. Wedding invitations let your guests know the details about your wedding such as your wedding’s date, time and location. There are many couples who just look at samples at the store and pick a pre-written wedding invitations. This is for those couples who want to write their own wedding invitation to make it more special and personal.
What are the things that you should say and you shouldn’t say in your wedding invitation?
First are the should’s. You should say the names of your parents first in the invitation and say that your parents are inviting the guest to your wedding. You should include all the impotant details of the wedding. Don’t forget the time and date and the entourage. You should also include R.S.V.P. in your invitation. You want to be sure that your guests are coming to your wedding.
Now the shouldn’ts. You shouldn’t say anything about the bridal registry. Your wedding invitation is a request for the company of your guests and not a request for their gifts. You should not also say that cash is more appreciated than gifts for the same reason. If you don’t want the guests to take their little children along, don’t say that children are strictly not allowed. Just put the names of the people you want to come in the invitation.
If you write the wording in your wedding invitation, whether the theme of your wedding is formal or casual, it is important to abide by these do’s and don’ts. Our age may be modern but a wedding is still a ritual and writing invitation is also one. Be creative. Be personal. But fun if you want. But don’t forget your etiquette.
